Netty says "spooky" and I say "haunting". Yvonne, this is a stunning collage. You have chosen widely different elements and combined them in such a way that they look as if they naturally belong there. I think this is one of your very best creations (so far!!)Fantastic. As for Chris' remark about the dolls with real eyes and teeth, I had such a doll. It was passed down from my mother and it had a delicate porcelain china face, brown glassy eyes which did look real, and REAL TEETH. Well, pretend real teeth. The doll was given a makeover and she had long brown ringlets which also looked real. Apart from the sentimental value, I imagine the doll would be worth a lot of money today but it disappeared very mysteriously and without trace. I always suspected that my mother had passed it on to one of her granddaughters who were not much younger than I was at the time. (I was an aunt for the first time at age four).
I think this piece is so hauntingly beautiful. I agree with Marie, I think one of your best. I love he combination of images and the doll looks like a Jumeau. I have an original over 100 years old Jumeau doll body. I found her with no head and had a reproduction head and wig put on over 25 years ago. A wonderful piece of art. Hugs xx
I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks that doll is just a little spooky - it's definitely the eyes! A creative, atmospheric and eye-catching collage, Yvonne.
Yvonne.. this touched a chord in my heart! How I miss my doll that looked exactly like that one.... too many moves in my childhood lost it to me forever!! Fabulous piece for this challenge! Glenys
