As most of you know, I'm usually kind of short when it comes to words, but I'll give it a try.
This is a picture of my grandmother (probably in her early 20's). She was born in Cernauti, Romania (now called Chernivtsi, Ukraine). She immigrated to Canada, with her parents, when she was five years old. She married at the age of 16, in Spring Valley, Saskatchewan and had 11 children. My mother is the second youngest of her children.

Wonderful photo of your Grandmother, Yvonne, and the story behind it, precious memories!
Beautiful and it's nice to hear the story behind it. Marie
Thank you for sharing this photo of your grandmother. She looks capable, as she would have had to be to marry at 16 and have 11 children! We are such wimps compared to these strong women!
Terrific photo and thank you for the information about her, so very interesting, loved it Yvonne. Annette x
Wonderful story and there is a family resemblance.

Yvonne, how lucky you are to have such a wonderful photo of your grandmother. She looks as if she really means business!! She would have had to be tough to cope with 11 children and probably a hard, pioneering life. I am so enjoying the stories behind the "ancestors". Thanks so much for sharing your story with us.
Way to use your words Yvonne...a beautiful story and a lovely Grandma lucky you!!!
Excellent, Yvonne. She was a good looking lady. A popular hair style I think...my paternal grandmother had a similar style with braids wound up behind her head. Almost forgot that Romania was now part of the Ukraine...things sure change.
Wonderful to see a photo of one of your ancestors Yvonne, and lovely to read her story to go with it. She'd had quite a life at such an early age. Pen x
Great picture, and good to hear the story behind it. I have a lot of friends here whose ancestors came from the same town! It was a centre for art and literature, and many famous writers came from there!
Lovely photo Yvinne and nice to hear the story of your heritage. xx
What a great photo of your grandmother Yvonne!! She travelled so far at such an early age... must have been quite a journey so long ago. One of my dearest friends' mother is from Saskatchewan, can you belive it:) She married a Norwegian pilot and they now live not far from where I Live on a small island in Norway :) Have a great rest of week my friend!!

Yvonne, thank you for sharing this picture of your Grandmother and a little of her life story. And what an interesting life she had, born in Europe, brought up in Canada AND bringing 11 children into the world. They don't make woman like that these days.
Thanks for sharing your story and the photo of your wonderful grandmother. Eleven children!
Wonderful photo of your grandma.
Did you know her when you were a child?
What wonderfull stories she must have had, to travel so far and get married so young.

What a treasure this picture is, Yvonne! She looks so young, almost like a child. Just imagine having 11 children to care for!
